The default setting for the Philips SpeechMike is Event mode. This mode is supported by all SpeechMike devices. In this mode, SpeechMike devices can send button events only over a proprietary HID interface to the PC.
In order to use or transfer the device to Keyboard mode, you will need to configure the device to operation in Keyboard mode through the Philips Device Control Center, also known as SpeechControl.
In Keyboard mode, SpeechMike devices do not send proprietary HID events when buttons are pressed. They send standard keyboard events instead, or change the state of the internal microphone of the SpeechMike device. These event can be handled by any software on the PC without integrating any SDK provided by Speech Processing Solutions.
Dragon Speech Recognition can be controlled directly by SpeechMike devices using keyboard events.
Once the device has been switched to Keyboard mode, it can be used with Dragon Medical Practice Edition and Dragon NaturallySpeaking with pre-programmed functionality.
