Firmware is that part of the device software which has been programmed into the Digital Pocket Memo and can be upgraded, directly or via SpeechExec, when the device is connected to the PC.
Here we describe in simple steps how you can update the firmware for your audio recorder.
This description is related to the following products:
DPM8000 series, DPM7000 series and DPM6000 series.
Important note
Before you start make sure that the battery is fully charged to prevent power interruption during the update process
For firmware update there are two different methods that we describe here.
Direct update
Connect the DPM device to the computer via USB.
Open webbrowser and navigate to DPM support page
Select and click on Firmware file. If you want to know what the firmware upgrade involves then click on the readme file.
New window with software end user license agreement appears. Click again on Downlaod Button
Select the DPM device in file explorer and save the DPM firmware file to the root directory
Disconnect the DPM from the USB or remove from the docking station. The update process is initiated automatically, you have to wait a bit until the device menu appears again.
SpeechExec Pro
Connect the DPM with computer and start SpeechExec Software.
Open the General settings menu
Click on Updates and select DPM firmware and klick on Check Now.
If a newer firmware is detected a window will appear. If you select Yes, a progress dialog is displayed during the download process.
A message is displayed asking if you want to install the update. Click again on OK.
A message is displayed saying that the Digital Pocket Memo must be disconnected for the device to update to the new firmware. Click again on OK
Disconnect the DPM from the USB or remove from the docking station. The update process is initiated automatically, you have to wait a bit until the device menu appears again.
Check the Firmware version
Tap the middle button again, then the display changes to the devices information. You will see the memory card information, recording time, then you will see the device type, serial number, firmware version and current date. Tap on Back Button again and exit the menu.
